I used Gmail to create a recurring task reminder. I run a small department and schedule regular and irregular tasks in a special Google calendar account used only for this purpose. I set up a reminder to go out 30 minutes before an event. When the calendar sends the reminder to the corresponding Gmail account it hits a filter that looks for "[Reminder]" and forwards it to an email alias at my workplace which in turn forwards that reminder to my whole group. This way floors get mopped, air filters get changed and we stay ahead of the curve without me having to be a picky boss or keep it all in my head. Best part: I only had to think of all of the tasks once and the solution is automated!
