I participate in an online debating forum that is hosted with proprietary software that does provide numerical indexing, but has very limited (and slow) search capabilities. This makes it almost impossible to go back and find something you've read in the past. Whenever I come across something I may want to refer back to, I email it to my Gmail account. Doing this provides me with the power to apply the legendary Google search technology to content. Just between you and I, this provides me with a huge advantage over my opponents in that historical research that is impractical for them is trivial for me. Just don't tell them my secret!
