I first discovered Gmail right before I went to Iraq. While I was in Iraq it turned out that you couldn't check your email on most computers, but I found a way to check my Gmail and it was the only one that would work. Then chat came out, and that was one of the greatest days because until then I had to write emails back and forth due to the fact that Instant Messaging was not allowed but then the chat was created, so it was easy to keep in touch. It was like having somewhat of a more realistic conversation so that made things a whole lot easier. Now I am in Okinawa Japan and Gmail with AIM has been added and wow it makes it that much greater because some computers on Base do not have AIM installed on them but now I can text my Fiancee's phone using AIM on Gmail to keep in touch while she is not logged into Gmail. I recommend everyone switch to Gmail.
