Going through preteen and early teen years can be a real struggle without a great socializing tool. Gmail has been this for me. I have archived messages from a long time ago, making it easy to look over memories and laugh about things that happened. The chat feature has been a life saver, too. If I need someone to talk to or help or anything, I know I can get it with just one click. Going through middle school makes it terribly hard to stay in touch with your friends without Gmail. I can also brag about the fact the I almost never get any spam, which makes life a whole lot easier and a whole lot less annoying. The picture feature has made it easy to flaunt current interests and communicate with a crush that I'm never going to get.
