Almost 2.5 years ago, over Gmail I was complaining to my boyfriend (now my husband) about a terribly painful canker sore I had. Predictably, I got a bunch of "canker sore remedy" context ads... One led to a page about detergent free toothpaste, along with links to the four clinical studies showing that detergent caused people to have more and worse canker sores. I haven't used detergent in my mouth since then, and I've only had about 2-3 small canker sores a year since, as opposed to the 2-3 often large ones I'd have each month before.
