The ability to search within Gmail has allowed me to be free from the mass-directory-izing of my previous email client. Now I just dump it all into the archive and know that with a single search string I can get what I need. It's been a life saver for recalling event details, client info, family commitments and more. I often reply to myself just to add a piece of info I want to have for later, like a sticky note.
